Siena owned Windows computers provided by ITS already have Microsoft System Center Endpoint Protection enabled and protecting these systems.
Note: Prior to installing any new antivirus program, existing third-party antivirus programs should be deactivated or removed.
Windows Defender comes pre-installed on Windows 8 and Windows 10 computers so installation is not normally required.
Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE) is a free antivirus/malware tool developed and distributed by Microsoft for Personally Owned Windows 7 computers.
Note: Windows 7 extended support will end 1/14/2020. After that date, Microsoft will no longer provide security updates or support for computers running Windows 7, and continued use might expose your computer, data, and network to increased security risks.
All of the following have free options for Mac personal computers. You should always configure antivirus software for automatic updates and real-time threat protections.
Note: Apple has stopped releasing security updates for both OS X 10.6 and 10.7. Continuing to run computers with those operating systems on the network is not recommended. ITS strongly encourages you to upgrade those machines to the latest Mac OS if possible to ensure that they are protected.
